WE ACKNOWLEDGE DISABILITIES. BUT EMPHASIZE POSSIBILITIES.
We don’t like the term disability. We prefer the root word—ability or able. As in helping able men and women with cognitive disabilities assimilate into the workforce. For over five decades LaunchAbility®—formerly Special Care & Career Services— has been expanding worlds for adults with cognitive disabilities and the families who care for them.
First and foremost, we are a job-placement service for underserved and overlooked adults with cognitive disabilities. Men and women with Autism, Down Syndrome, stroke and significant learning disabilities who not only desire to join the workforce but, with guidance and training, are more than able to do so. Our training and placement services give careers, confidence and independence to clients who would otherwise be solely dependent on their families or social services.
Placing adults with diverse abilities who want gainful employment is life altering. Not only for them but for the companies who hire them.
Many of our award-winning programs are the launch points to self-reliance and poise for these adults with diverse abilities ultimately becoming the inspiration for our name: LaunchAbility®
THE GREATEST OUTCOME FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITES OCCUR WHEN THEIR ABILITIES ARE ALIGNED WITH THE NEEDS OF THE WORKFORCE.
For over 50 years we have been changing the opportunity landscape for people with disabilities and their families. We have never looked at the remarkable people we serve as being less than. Some may have been born with challenges; others may have acquired them through armed service, injury or illness. Through no fault of their own, they may not be able to easily or quickly do some daily functions as well as others, but everyone can shine at something. Our job is to find that hidden ability in a client and align it with an employer to create a symbiotic work relationship. Our services range from career development/coaching, resume/interview preparation, job identification and on-the-job coaching for clients as well as disability etiquette training and consulting for employers. One could say that our mission is to facilitate the connection between employee and employer. Or, that we offer strategic talent management for a complex workforce. Another way to put it is: We Convert disAbilities into Opportunities.
